Fire Burn Down About 15 Shops At Asante Bekwai

At least 15 shops have been razed down by fire at Asante Berkwai in the Ashanti Region on Monday.

The incident is reported to have occurred in the night with properties worth thousands of Ghana Cedis being destroyed.

The scene of the fire is said to be just some few meters from a fuel station in the town.

An eyewitness disclosed that the fire started at a tailoring shop after occupants burnt debris near a wooden structure.

Firefighters were called to the scene as the fire suddenly swept through other close shops including a pharmacy shop.

The exact cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be revealed and officials say investigations have commenced.

So far about 243 fire incidents have been recorded within a spate of one week in January 2020 alone.
