E-Levy Will Transform Lives Of Ghanaians – Stephen Amoah

Dr. Stephen Amoah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso, has stated that the Minority in Parliament will not be able to prevent the government from passing the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-Levy), a controversial planned tax policy.

According to him, the E-Levy is a requirement for the government to put the economy back on track. He feels this will have a big influence on the average Ghanaian.

The E-Levy will be passed in a matter of time, according to the Nhyiaeso legislator.

He stated the minority is acting out of fear in an interview with TV3. He feels the Minority’s decision to reject the levy is just and an attempt to take the light from the Akufo-Addo-led administration.

“We’ll pass it, we’ll pass it at the appropriate time, they won’t be able to stop us.” We now hold the position of government. Why won’t they stop if they claim they want to make us unpopular? They are afraid that Ghanaians will continue to build their goodwill and confidence in this government because they know this will transform and change the lives of Ghanaians, they know this will reverse the consequences of the Covid, they know this will put our fiscal space in the right perspective, and they know this will put our fiscal space in the right perspective,” he said.

Mr. Amoah also urged those who want the levy’s 1.75 percent rate cut to back up their claims with science and statistics rather than “projecting from nothing.”
