Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a close aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, has stated that when the NDC takes power, the E-Levy tax will be abolished.
The E-Levy tax, she claims, is one of the most regressive and ineffective levies ever enacted in the country.
On Thursday, Joyce Bawa denied assertions made by some NPP members that the previous president’s promise to abolish the E-Levy was a’scam.’

Her remarks follow former opposition presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama’s promise to remove the E-levy and save Ghanaians money if his party wins power in 2025.
“God willing, and with the votes of the sovereign people of Ghana in 2025, a new National Democratic Congress government would abolish the E-levy Act,” the one-term former President declared at the NDC’s “Ghana at a Crossroads” event in Accra on Monday, May 2, 2022.
In response to the aforesaid statement, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) called it a “scam.”
