Her remarks follow former opposition presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama’s promise to remove the E-levy and save Ghanaians money if his party wins power in 2025.

“God willing, and with the votes of the sovereign people of Ghana in 2025, a new National Democratic Congress government would abolish the E-levy Act,” the one-term former President declared at the NDC’s “Ghana at a Crossroads” event in Accra on Monday, May 2, 2022.

In response to the aforesaid statement, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) called it a “scam.”
