E-Levy Is An Agenda To Reduce Borrowing – NPP Chairman

Bismark Boateng, the chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ayawaso Central constituency, has urged Ghanaians to accept the government’s proposed E-Levy.

The E-Levy, he claims, is a plan for job creation, development, and self-sufficiency.

He said that Ghanaians have long complained about the government’s borrowing habits, and that a new method has been implemented to help us cut down on our borrowing, and that Ghanaians must support it.

According to him, the fee will assist in resolving the issue of schools under trees, as well as assisting many health structures in meeting Ghanaians’ health demands.

He emphasized that the levy is a worthwhile initiative.

He also stated that the government is aware of the concerns raised about the proposed E-levy.

On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta presented the 2022 budget to Parliament, which included a 1.75 percent tax on electronic financial transactions.

The tax measure, according to the Minister, was designed to raise revenue to support job-creation initiatives, road infrastructure construction, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure.
