A task group from Ghana’s Electricity Company is currently in parliament, awaiting the Speaker’s departure to begin a disconnection exercise due to the legislature’s debts.
The exact sum that Parliament owes the electricity distribution firm is unknown.
ECG cut electricity to Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport and other Ghana Airports Company offices on March 14 due to unpaid invoices.
After the KIA failed to pay their due to the power distribution company, the disconnection was carried out.
According to sources, KIA owes ECG over GHC49 million.
The task team rejected an attempt by the KIA management to pay the debt by check while the disconnection process was in progress.
The Airport firm, on the other hand, has been reconnected to the power grid.
