The core duty of a leader is to protect and serve. This means a leader should always have the interest of his or her followers at heart in any circumstance.
This is a duty which a District Chief Executive (DCE) at Asikuma Odomin Brakwa has faulted. And Hon. Isaac Odoom is now in trouble for neglecting his duty.
Madam Abena Gyimah, the disabled woman in question is trader at Breman Asikuma in the Central region. She trade in fish. She reported that when she arrived from Mankessim with some fishes she had gone to buy to resell, Hon. Isaac Odoom’s car accidentally destroyed it.
She could not salvage even one fish to resell. As a result, she petitioned Hon. Isaac Odoom on the harm his vehicle has caused. And well asked the him to pay for the destroyed items.
Madam Abena’s Gyimah’s complains yielded no result. Madam Abena’s Gyimah’s expectation of refund didn’t materialised. Instead she was given insult from the Honourable DCE. And the disabled woman’s son also received beatings.
Authorities she has petitioned
Madam Abena have realised that Hon. Isaac Odoom is not willing to give her the money. She has noticed that Hon. Isaac Odoom wants to use his power and position overcome a woman who is disabled and widow.
Her fear is that Hon. Isaac Odoom will not pay her the money and she might end up on the street as beggar. Madam Abena Gyimah is complaining that the incident which happened between Hon. Isaac Odoom and herself date several months ago. Therefore she could she that Hon. Isaac Odoom is bent on not paying the money.
She is now calling on the Gender Minister, and the association of the disabled to speak on her behalf so that can retrieve her lost capital.
Madam Abena Gyimah is asking higher authorities to come to her aid because she now depend on good Samaritan’s before she and her children can eat.
One will expect that such a crime and cruelty be done someone else so that the Honourable DCE fight for this woman . Instead, he is one fighting the very people he is supposed to protect and serve.
