Controversial son of Ghana’s first president Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah is calling on politicians to stop the needless commentary on the novel coronavirus and allow the President speak with the experts for the best advice.
He underscored the need for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to consult the real scientists who are well-versed in the area to given him the best advice rather than politicians seeking to make mincemeat out of the matter
“All these politicians in Ghana giving advice on coronavirus should shut up! They are not scientists to tell us what to do. Allow the president to consult with the real scientists and then take the necessary action! Period”, he state in a post sighted by Ghanawish.com
Meanwhile, Ghana’s confirmed COVID-19 case count continues to rise with effusive speed following the mandatory quarantine of some 1030 persons who came into the country via the Kotoka International Airport a day before it was finally shut to human traffic as a mitigating measure to stopping the spread of coronavirus in the country. At 53 confirmed cases by the close of Tuesday, March 24, 2020, the Ministry of Information has reported a quantum leap of fifteen (15) overnight, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 68 as at Wednesday morning.
“The sudden spike in case incidence is as a result of the mandatory quarantine and compulsory testing for all travelers entering Ghana, as directed by the President”, the Information Ministry said in its situation update.
“Overall, 30 of the 68 cases have been reported in the general population with the remaining cases among persons currently under mandatory quarantine”, the update added.
