Ghanaian Businessman and Founder of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike claims to be the main brain behind President Akufo-Addo’s orders restricting movements imposed on some parts of the country as parts of drastic efforts to contain the coronavirus outbreak in Ghana.
“I asked the President to put ban on all travelling. I am also the one who asked that we disinfect our markets and finally I suggested we should lockdown the country”, he boasted on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM in an interview monitored by Ghanawish.com
According to the businessman cum politician, he deserves credit from President Akufo-Addo as a statesman after the government is taking steps to stop the novel Coronavirus declared pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) killing thousands across the globe.
“Akufo-Addo has plagiarized my ideas and he needs to honour me for this”, Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike told host of Nhyira FM morning show, Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin as some parts of the country have begun a two week partial lockdown as ordered by the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The lockdown affects areas where significant numbers of virus infections have been recorded. Some parts of the nation’s capital Accra as well as Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, Kasoa and Tema are hit with the 14-day restriction on movements.
The police has mounted roadblocks to ensure that persons who move in and out of the restricted areas are rendering essential services and are indeed exempted from the restrictions. Individuals who belong to this category are expected to show proper identification before they would have the green light to move.
