Two top-ranking police officers have been invited by the National Security Secretariat and the Bureau of National Investigations for interrogation in connection with the recent alleged coup plot to destablise the government, Class News sources have confirmed.
The Commissioner of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Police have been answering questions regarding their alleged involvement in the plot.
The top cops were invited, according to sources familiar with the development, on the basis that they had had phone conversations with some of the prime actors of the alleged coup plot.
Already Dr Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, the Chief Executive Officer of the Citadel Hospital, who is the alleged leader of the plot, has been in BNI custody and arraigned together with accomplices Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli, Mr Gershon Akpa, Warrant Officer Esther, Lance Corporals Seidu Abubakar, Solomon Ali and Sylvester Akankpewu.
They are facing treason charges as well as charges related to the unlawful possession of explosives and ammunition.
