Gender minister Cynthia Morrison has announced government’s designated free food hotlines for vulnerable groups in lockdown areas across the country.
The hotlines are 0800800800 and 0800900900.
These numbers were made public by Cynthia Mamle Morrison while addressing a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday.
She said these numbers will guide the Ministry in ensuring equitable distribution of food to vulnerable groups within locked-down areas namely: Accra, Kumasi, Tema and Kasoa.
The Minister also disclosed collaborations with faith-based organizations to help in the distribution of food to some 400,000 Ghanaians.
“Government is dealing not only with the Ministry of Social Protection; we are dealing with the faith-based churches. We’ve given rice, yam, maize, tinned tomatoes, oil, eggs to the faith-based churches…It is government that has given the churches food to send round,” she said.
The government had earlier announced the provision of food and shelter for 15,000 head porters popularly known as ‘Kayayei’ and Persons With Disability (PWDs) following the current COVID-19 lockdown.
