Chieftaincy Ministry Fires NABCO Trainees Despite Government Assurances

The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has asked all NABCO trainees attached to the ministry to go home.

The Minister in a directive to heads of agencies under him asked that the trainees are relieved since the programme ended in October last year.

The move comes despite assurances by government that they will be retained.

“Following a high-level stakeholder meeting with the lead NABCO Module Implementation Partners (MIPs) led by His Excellency, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and The Honourable Chief of Staff, all NABCO trainees are required to remain at post,” a statement signed by NABCO boss Dr. Ibrahim Anyars on Monday 15 November, 2021 said.

It added that a new cohort of NABCO trainees will be recruited in 2022.

NABCO was introduced by the Akufo-Addo led administration in 2017 as part of measures to address graduate unemployment in the country. The initiative was run under seven modules namely Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitize Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, and Civic Ghana.
