The NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga Central Constituency has called on government to resource the health sector rather than ask citizens to fast and pray for God’s protection describing the latter as a mark of incompetence
President Akufo-Addo in his latest address to Ghanaians asked that citizens observe fasting and prayers on Wednesday as part of measures to fight the deadly Coronavirus.
” Whilst we continue to adhere to these measures, and ramp up our efforts to defeat this virus, I urge all of us, also, to seek the face of the Almighty. So, on Wednesday, 25th March, 2020, I appeal to all Ghanaians, Christians and Muslims, to observe a national day of fasting and prayer. Let us pray to God to protect our nation and save us from this pandemic. I thank the men and women of God who prayed for the nation with me on Thursday, and with the Vice President on Friday, for their intervention”, the President revealed during his address last weekend.
The President also mentioned that the government has ordered test kits which will be made available to the frontline health workers.
But in a tweet, Hon. Adongo believes government’s call for prayers is an indication of how clueless the Akufo-Addo led administration is.
Meanwhile, former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has asked Ghanaians to observe the National Day of Fasting and Prayers and has offered a helping hand to the government in the fight against the deadly Corona Virus.
Ghana has recorded 24 cases of Coronavirus and that has since put fear in citizens who are of the belief that it could spread across the country.
