The acting PRO of Parliament, Mrs. Kate Addo, has revealed that the idea to construct a new chamber would be dropped.
According to her, the idea is not feasible now, and the parliamentary board would meet over the matter.
She was speaking in an interview on GHONe TV on their newsroom programme of Monday, July 8, 2019.
“Before projects are completed, feasibility studies are done but you would realise that this new chamber is not something that is workable for now,” she said.
“There will be a board meeting to say if it will be halted or not, but for now, it is not feasible,” the parliament PRO said.
She stated, however, that the decision by Parliament not to go ahead with the project now does not necessarily mean money has been wasted.
Madam Addo further appealed to Ghanaians to use the right channel in protesting.
Meanwhile, the president has kicked against the move to use $200m for a new chamber.
In an earlier report, it was disclosed that the president intended to focus on top priority projects than the chamber.
These projects include roads, education and training sector, agriculture, and many others.
