Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, and his assistant, David Duncan, have not been paid since their appointment in January 2020.
The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo, has confirmed in an interview.
Akonnor and Duncan were appointed in January when the contract of former Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah, was not renewed after expiration in December 2019.
Harrison Ado said the situation has been explained to the two coaches and they know what is happening concerning their salaries.
He added that when the is money ready, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which is in charge of the salaries of the national team coaches, will do so as soon as possible.
“C. K Akonnor and David Duncan have not been paid [since they started work]. What is left is to ensure that they get their money then we move on,” he told Asempa FM.
“I’m sure the Sports Ministry will pay them when there is money, but we are always in constant communication with them, so, they know what the situation is.
“When the engagement is good, they’ll understand the situation, I know there’re some efforts in place so that their money will be paid.”
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Akonnor had to wait until October to take charge of his first assignments and is currently preparing with the team in Cape Coast for an AFCON double-header qualifier against Sudan.
C. K Akonnor is entitled to a monthly salary of 25,000 dollars a month as revealed by the personal assistant of the sports minister, Asare Brako.
