A former NDC Parliamentary Candidate aspirant for the Amasaman Constituency, Hajia Mariam Dzifa Ibrahim, has described chairperson of the electoral commission, Mrs. Jean Mensah as inhumane and insensitive.
Speaking with Citizen Kofi Owusu on Ahotor FM, Hajia Mariam said Jean Mensa must put aside individual interests for now and think highly of the interest of the nation and not only postponed the excises but cancel.
“Look at countries like China and Italy who are developed and have all the resources to contain the deadly disease but what do we see. A lot of them are dying… So if in this crisis, Jean Mensah is pushing for the compilation of the new register, then she is inhumane and insensitive.” Hajia Mariam said.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has postponed its compilation of a new voter register as a result of the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus pandemic. This was made known to journalists by Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, Director of Electoral Services after an Inter-Party Advisory Committee meeting, Wednesday, that the outfit is collaborating with health experts to decide on a more favorable date.
“We had planned to do the registration on the 18th but because of the pandemic, we can’t do it on the 18th, so, we are observing what is happening around Ghana and the global issue…so, when it gets to a time that we think the situation is fertile for us to commence with the registration then we can do it,” Mr. Quaicoe explained.
