The General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has confessed to all governments making ‘family and friend’ appointments but says that of the Akufo-Addo government is disproportionate.
According to General Mosquito, as he is popularly known, President Akufo-Addo is not the only president running a government full of relatives and cronies but the number of family and friends he superintends over are unprecedented.
He has, therefore, condemned the president’s decision to appoint some 51 ‘family and friends’, saying the president’s action lays the ground for breeding corruption.
“Akufo-Addo is only using his power of appointment to serve his personal and family interest. Yes, I admit Akufo-Addo is not the only president to appoint his family and friends into government but our problem is that the list is just too much and breeds corruption,” Mr Nketiah said on Nhyira FM‘s ‘Kro Yi Mu Nsem’.
According to him, the president deceived Ghanaians with his campaign promise of not running a family and friends government.
The NDC, through its National Communications Bureau, has released a list of some 51 people they have tagged as being relatives and cronies of President Akufo-Addo occupying positions in his government.
