Ashanti Region: Regional ICT Innovation Center abandoned

The Ashanti Regional ICT Innovation center at Kwadaso Edwenease in the Kwadaso Municipality has been left idle for five years now due to the lack of ICT equipments, Otec news has gathered.

The center which was constructed by the government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Communications, was to promote digital entrepreneurship and create digital jobs for the youth in the country.
However the facility has been left unused five years after construction due to the lact of equipments needed for the center to function.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Kwadaso Hon Agyenim Boateng Richmond when contacted said the facility was which was built during the former President John Mahama’s administration has been fully furnished with chairs and tables but the center is not in operation now due to the lack of the needed materials.

Speaking to Otec news Kwame Agyenim Boateng the MCE explained that the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has no authority over the facility since it falls directly under the Ministry of Communications hence the assembly’s inability to make it operational.

He however disclosed that the assembly is ready to run the facility should the ministry of communication decides to hand it over to them.
