Ashaiman Soldier Was Killed Over iPhone 6 – Police Report

Imoro Sherrif, a 22-year-old soldier murdered in Taifa, an Ashaiman suburb in the Greater Accra Region, per information from Daily Guide died as a result of an iPhone 6.

Sources told Daily Guide that the two prime suspects allegedly killed the soldier attached to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) band in Sunyani because they wanted to collect his iPhone.

One of the attackers allegedly stabbed him after he struggled and tried to fight back.

The young soldier was left to his fate in a pool of blood until he passed away as the suspects took the iPhone 6 that had broken during the struggle and fled the scene.

On March 11, 2023, police announced that they had apprehended the two main suspects in the heinous crime.

They are preparing them for court.

However, the police have also detained four additional suspects in connection with the crime, and they are assisting them in their inquiries.

The four were individuals who purchased the phone in the municipality and then sold it to one another.

To aid in investigations and prosecution, police were able to locate the iPhone and retrieve it.

The source claim that the phone was found on a driver near the Ashaiman overpass early on Sunday morning.

Interrogations of the suspects are currently ongoing at the Police Headquarters in Accra in the presence of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare who has shown so much interest in the case by spending a night in Ashaiman on the day the prime suspects were apprehended.

Imoro Sherrif was laid to rest on Thursday, March 9 at the Military Cemetery Burma Camp in Accra.
