The Asem Mixed Experimental M/A School in Kumasi has taken delivery of 100 dual desks donated by a US-based philanthropic group, Asafo-Fante-New-Town-Amakom (AFA) Association.

The association comprising Ghanaians in the Diasporas said the donation formed part of its objectives to help the country build its human capital in the area of education.

The General-Secretary of AFA, Kofi Atakora Amaniampong, who made the presentation on behalf of the association, said members were touched by the plight of the students and, therefore, decided to help furnish the classrooms in support of academic work.

For him, educational development is a shared responsibility and requires support from all citizens irrespective of where one domiciles.

He called other groups and associations to emulate the gesture of AFA since education is the best legacy to give to the younger generation.

The association also donated 100 pieces of exercise books to the Asem Boys Junior High School in Kumasi and presented a cheque of GHȼ57,200 to the family of a triplet whose mother passed on during delivery.

The Head Teacher of Asem Mixed Experimental M/A School, Philip Marshal, expressed gratitude to the donors for their kind gesture and called for their continuous support.

According to him, the school lacks computer laboratory, library and potable water. He, therefore, appealed to the association and other bodies to aid the school.

He said the provision of the new furniture would go a long way to improve academic work and the performance of the school.
