Former President His Excellency John Agyekum Kuffour has added his voice to the new voter register brouhaha.
The former President said, if relying on passport and national identification card as a document to be used in registering voters will end up disenfranchise majority” then the electoral commission should consider adding the current voter ID card to the required documents to be used in the registration of the new voter ID card.
His Excellency John Agyekum Kuffour said, the electoral commission should not do something that will end up disenfranchising eligible voters in the coming general elections. With a voter ID card means you don’t have Kokromotia Power, meaning you can’t voter in the coming elections.
The electoral commission of Ghana, in the Constitutional Instrument they lay before parliament, excluded the current voter ID card and birth certificate as a required document for registering in the new voter registration.
The NDC and other opposition parties raise concern on content of the CI the electoral commission lay before the Parliament.
