Award-winning Ghanaian Investigative Journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has taken on the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his recent comments.
According to him, the comments are not befitting of his age.
The Journalist believes that there was nothing funny about Kwaku Agyeman-Manu’s actions that should warrant a joke.
“There are a lot of people from the Bono Region in my government; including the Minister of Health, who is currently receiving slaps [from Ghanaians]. He is an indigene of Dormaa. He has really suffered in that Health Ministry and is still suffering,” he said of the appointee while laughing together with dignitaries and others gathered at the venue.
He also added that the recent comment about the Acting Auditor-General doing what his predecessor Daniel Yaw Domelevo could not do was needless.
“Even the most touted Auditor General before him never managed to do it and this one has done it. I think on the basis of the work that he has done, the independence with which he has gone around with his work, if today efforts are made to confirm him, I believe it should be done, and that confirmation process will gather more public support,” the President said.
Manasseh’s post on Facebook said “Yesterday, I wrote a post that said some of the president’s pronouncements are not befitting of a man of his age. Some respectable friends who reached out to me said they have found the wording of the post distasteful and appealed to me to do something about it.
Accordingly, I have pulled down the post and apologise to the president and whoever is offended by the post. I, however, stand by the substance of the post, that some of the utterances of the president are not befitting of him. For instance, there’s nothing funny about Kwaku Agyeman-Manu’s actions to warrant a public joke about it. This week, it was Domelevo’s comment”.
