Saka Salia, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communication team, has chastised Sarah Adwoa Safo, the MP for Dome Kwabenya, for what he views as disdain for Ghana’s democracy.
Saka Salia claims that she [Adwoa Safo] takes her work for granted. “Adwoa Safo appears to be taking us for a ride. She’s tampering with our democracy, and what’s more, she instructed the majority leader that if he needed anything, he should contact her instead of calling. The Chief of Staff is unable to contact her, which means the President is unable to contact her as well.”
He said that Adwoa Safo’s participation was crucial in the party approving the e-levy bill, which will help the country’s economic fortunes, “and now her absence may hurt us if we vote today without her.”
Saka Salia says Adwoa Safo is well aware of this and is attempting to leverage it against the NPP. “Adwoa Safo should have seen this as a national call and fought for the country in her e-levy vote.” We wouldn’t have bothered about her vote if we had a clear majority, but she knows how important her vote is, so she’s acting this way.”
On the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk show, Don Kwabena Prah of Happy98.9FM suggested that as an MP who cares about her constituents, “Adwoa Safo could’ve been circumspect and returned to help us gain the votes required.” She should keep the mind that she was elected to the Dome Kwabenya seat on the NPP ticket, not as an independent.”
Sarah Awdoa Safo, the Dome-Kwabenya MP, has requested another leave extension from Parliament.
The extension was contained in a fresh letter written by the legislator, according to Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader in Parliament.
“What I can disclose now is that she brought a letter on Wednesday, requesting a four-week extension.” “My injured child is still responding to treatment,” she explained.
President Akufo-Addo renewed the Gender Minister’s leave of absence from office on October 6, last year.
The MP’s absence, which she had requested for personal reasons, was set to expire on August 31, 2021.
However, the former Minister of Procurement was unable to resume his duties and requested an extension. It did not specify when she would return, though.
