Adongo Donates PPE’s To Afrikids Medical Centre In Bolga Who failed to Attend To A Patient Suspected Of COVID-19 Due To Lack Of PPE’s

According some report that came in the news not long ago has it that, Health workers at the Afrikids Medical Centre in Bolgatanga took to caution and virtually failed to attend to a patient who visited the facility with suspected case of COVID-19 due to lack of Personal Protective Equipments.

Manager of the facility Godfred Njindan told journalists the female patient reported to the facility at midday on Sunday. He said “the signs she presented were cough, sneezing and some high temperature. So based on that the health care givers decided to quarantine her.”

According to him, the middle aged patient has travel history of having travelled to Burkina Faso. The disease surveillance team was called in and samples of the patient has since been taken for testing.

He disclosed that fear gripped the health staff because they do not have PPE’s and efforts to get some proved futile as only a limited number were received by the region.

According to Isaac Adongo, the singular intervention comes ahead of a large donation of PPE’s he is set to make to the municipality on Wednesday for distribution to 42 health facilities in the Bolgatanga municipality.

“This is to enable you attend to the patient while we wait for the results. Meanwhile you would have more once we do the official donation to the Municipal Health Directorate for distribution to all health facilities,” he said while presenting the items at the hospital on Monday.

This is the second suspected reported COVID-19 case at the Afrikids hospital.
