Following the uproar that has generated the decision of Achimota School not to admit two Rastafarians and all the drama that has ensued, we have discovered another twist to the foregoing.
Apparently, the school gave admission to Caucasians spotting long hair in the 2018/2019 academic year, and on that premise, the decision to reject the Ghanaian boys has been interpreted as purely discriminatory and prejudicial.
The Headmistress who has come under fire on social media for wearing Peruvian but rejecting Rastafarians’ natural hair refused to comply with a Ghana Education Service order to admit the students which were later rescinded.
We have come across pictures of some of the white students rocking their natural hair which has given more room for some Ghanaians to question the decision of the school on rejecting the two students who gained admission to the school.
Well, the school responded by saying that some of the Caucasians sighted in viral pictures were exchange students and not “normal” students admitted via the Ghana Public school placement system.
