Accra floods: 207 Car enters into gutter under construction at Teshie-Rasta road

Yesterday’s heavy downpour of rain left some residents in Teshie, Amasaman, Kasoa, East Legon and other affected areas worried as to what can be done to future floods. The 3 hr rain caused flood which resulted in vehicular traffic. Pictures flooding on social media tells it all as our sources intercepted and physically experienced same flooding in our areas.

This, the Ghana Meteorological Agency has advised those living in areas closer to water bodies and water log areas to move to higher grounds as the rains can bring about future catastrophe.

Teshie

The 3 hr rain swallowed the bushroad-Rasta- Teshie road. This was seriously causes by a newly big gutter under construction. Timely intervention by locals within that particular areas who took the pain and directed cars as to the good lane to use to avoid being sweep away by the speeding flood.

That was the same point the 207 bus entered the side gutter due to the drivers inability to detect whether he was on track. Thanks to the brave guys who stood in the flood to direct these innocent drivers whose money is being used to fix the country but nothing proper is being seen on the roads.

Amasaman

Amasaman also received their fair share with regard to the flood. The Accra mayor must turn their eyes on the Amasaman stretch, the road that stretches to Kojo-Ashong, Ashalaga and the rest. Human behaviour on that stretch may one-day bring devastating moment to innocent settlement over there. People are erecting heavy buildings in those water log areas and the most worrying aspect is filing stations taking advantage of that stretch and putting heavy filling to cover the water log areas and putting up their business structures.

Amasaman N1 Road

The Amasaman N1 Road that leads to Pokuasi, Nsawam to Kumasi also had some part of the stretch experienced by flooding. If care and immediate action is not taken, it may cause a serious accident we may not expect.
