Former Black Stars captain and three-time African footballer of the year award winner Abedi Pele should be regarded as the greatest Ghanaian footballer of all-time, according to Black Stars legend Asamoah Gyan.
Gyan who is being touted as one of the most celebrated Ghanaian footballers having chalked various successes in the Black Stars team has eulogized Pele who was a kingpin during his playing days.
Pele won the Africa Footballer of the year award in three successions and also clinched Ghana’s last Cup of Nations title with the Black Stars as a teenager in 1982.
There have been several comparison between Gyan, Ghana’s all-time top scorer and most capped player and the retired Pele.
However the former Sunderland man has drawn differences between himself and the ex-Olympique Marseille star.
“When I was growing up, Abedi was someone we all looked up to, he was playing the best of footballs in the country and there’s no doubt, he is incomparable,” he averred when he spoke to Kwaku Manu on the “Aggressive Interview”.
“He is the greatest Ghanaian footballer of all time with his style of play.”
Nonetheless Abedi Pele falls behind Asamoah Gyan as Ghana’s second highest scorer with 33goals in 73 caps for the Black Stars.
