Residents of Ahenema Kokoben , in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, cries as they are exposed to many health dangers due to poor sanitation in the area.
According to the residents Ghanawish.com understands that the community has been provided with a sanitation site but the place is nothing home to write about.
Upon visiting the site there were two containers overflowed for over six months with heaps of dump under it.
Some of the residents said, the amount they pay for dumping refuse in the container ranges from one cedis to Five cedis however the unit committee chairman Mr Kofi Agyei who is in charge of the sanitation site has failed to manage the site with the money .
“The stench emanating from the site which is few metres away from their homes is unbearable” They added
The Assembly member of the area Hon. Prince when contacted said the containers have been there due to bad roads at Atonsu Kuwait the main dumping site in the Kumasi Metropolis.
He however added that they are working assiduously to rid off the stenching dump from the site.
