Akufo-Addo to name UDS Navrongo campus after NPP stalwart C.K Tedam

The Navrongo campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS) is to be named after the late NPP stalwart, C.K. Tedam

It will be known as C.K.Tedam University for Technical and Applied Sciences

President Akufo-Addo made the announcement at the State Burial Mass for the late Tedam at Paga in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region on Saturday, June 22.

The Navrongo campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS) in the Upper East Region is set to be named after the late Clement Kubindiwo Tedam, who was a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This was disclosed by President Akufo-Addo, who also confirmed that a Bill to this effect is currently before Parliament .

The President was speaking during the burial ceremony of C.K Tedam, held at Paga, in the Kasena Nankana West District in the Upper East Region, on Saturday, June 22, 2019.

When approved by Parliament, it will be known as the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences.

In the sitting of Parliament, a Bill seeking to create an autonomous University out of the Navrongo campus of the University of Development Studies will be laid… Once the parliamentary processes are completed, it will be referred to as the C.K Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences,” Nana Addo said.

I will miss C.K. Tedam dearly,” he said in his tribute, adding that C.K Tedam’s contribution to Ghana and the NPP cannot he understated.

The President was accompanied by Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia; his wife, Samira Bawumia; Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Michael Oquaye; and Chief of Staff, Akosua Fremaa Osei Opare.

The President’s entourage also included Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu; Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay among other dignitaries.

The late C.K. Tedam was born on 25th November 1925 to Pe Tedam Bayemvua and Kawuri Tedam.

He was the first of two children from his mother and part of the second group of boys from Paga to go to school in 1939.

He was also a founding father of the Northern People’s Party (NPP) with Mumuni Bawumia, Naa Abeifaa Karbo, J.B Braimah, Tolon Naa Yakubu Tali, Adam Amandi, Imoro Salifu and Simon Diedong Dombo.
