The only radio station in Bimbila in the Northern Region, RADIO GMATAMBU 96.1 has been closed down by a joint police and military task force, not because their license have expired or they owe NCA as in the case of other closed down stations.

Confirming the rather mind boggling incident to KWAME APPIANI on Nkawkaw based LIFE FM, HON. MUHAMMED IBN ABAS, CEO of the station said 3 assembly members Who are known members of NPP in the area petitioned the assembly that owner and board of directors of the station are all NDC faithfuls and so the municipal security council should force the CEO to reconstitute the board to include NPP Members.
The station, through it’s lawyers, wrote back to the assembly that they cannot do that.
Unhappy with the response, MCE for the area, HON. ABDULAI YAQOO ordered that the station be shut down.
This lasted for about about a month within which NCA conducted an audit but found that everything was in order.

They however resumed operations in latter part of March but the issue popped up again and the station has since been closed down.

HON MUHAMMED IBN ABAS says they petitioned Parliamentary select committee on communications but are yet to get any response.
