2 There is tension at Dagomba Line in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region following the killing of two people in renewed clashes between two feuding factions.
Scores of people, including women and children, last Thursday also sustained severe injuries as the two factions (mostly scrap dealers) openly displayed offensive weapon, including machetes in the brutal fight over who is the rightful occupant of a piece of land in the area.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo, who confirmed the report, said a joint police/military team quickly rushed to the scene and they have since managed to restore law and order in the area.
Previous Clashes
Several wooden structures, which serve as accommodation for people who are mostly head porters, were set ablaze in the ensuing clashes which started on Tuesday.
This was after a certain man had gone to Dagomba Line with a court order to eject people from a parcel of land he claimed he owns.
Renewed Clashes
Calm seemed to have been restored at the place after a successful meeting between the feuding factions and the intervention of the security agencies, but the brutal clashes were renewed on Thursday evening.
The feuding groups reportedly threw petrol bombs at each other and also set fire to several wooden structures, causing massive panic in the community.
ASP Ahianyo revealed that in the course of the clashes, two people whom he identified as Abdul, 20, and Zaharia, 25, unfortunately lost their lives and others sustained injuries.
Key Arrests
The PRO disclosed that about 110 suspects have were apprehended by the police in the course of the melee and they would be screened and arraigned after through investigations have been done.

ASP Ahianyo said calm had been restored at the place as at Friday evening, indicating that a joint military/police patrol team would be stationed at the troubled area
