The opposition New Patriotic Party, (NPP), has tasked Ghanaians to vote out the Mahama-led administration on November 7.

The acting Chairman of the party, Freddie Blay, made the call at the party’s Fund raising campaign, Donate for Change.

Making references to the Smartty’s bus branding deal, the SADA and GYEEDA scandals, high cost of utilities and current economic challenges, Mr. Blay said the current government does not deserve to manage the country for another term.

“Thank God it is another election year and we are presented with yet another golden opportunity to remove from office this incompetent, corrupt and divisive NDC government. It is obvious we are bent on holding onto government in spite of their inability to perform, but we together as citizens of Ghana owe it as a duty to ourselves and the unborn generations to mobilize our efforts together and join forces to remove this incompetent NDC government.”

“…Decreasing job opportunities and job insecurity, worsening income levels, growing insecurity, unending dumsor and above all lies, and massive corruption in all spheres of the Mahama government, are the hallmarks of these wasted seven years.

“The latest is that Ghana now has the second highest interest rate in the whole world. This comes on the heels of another accolade, when the cedi was a couple of years ago the worst performing currency in the world yet government continues to borrow more money to undertake projects at highly inflated prices usually twice the actual cost.

These are some of the reasons why businesses are collapsing and jobs are hard to come by…”

Mahama’s ‘Accounting to the people tour’ a sham

The acting NPP Chairman also slammed the President’s ‘Accounting to the people tour’ particularly in the Eastern Region, saying he must first account for the numerous corrupt deals before anything else.

“I ask out loud; what account is the President giving to the people as he claims he is travelling around the country. Is he accounting for the jobs that are being lost everyday? Is he accounting for the bogus judgement debt? Is he accounting for the stealing that took place under the wicked guise of creating jobs for the youth with GYEEDA?

Nana Akuffo-Addo, who launched the fund raising campaign, also expressed concern about what he called an economic crisis in Ghana saying “…our economy is in tatters, inflation is high, taxes are high, business both big and small are struggling and millions of young women and men are struggling.”

The fundraising campaign is aimed at soliciting funds for the party’s campaign to be launched later ahead of the November polls.
