The National Democratic Congress says the death of the former chairman of the New Patriotic Party has hit the party hard in the heart.

The NDC’s General Secretary, Asiedu Nketiah in a statement expressed his party’s condolence to the family of the late chairman and the NPP.

He said Ghana’s contemporary history cannot be written without the mention of Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.

Mr Lamptey died on the dawn of Sunday at a hospital in London after a short illness.

Bryan Acheampong, confidante of Jake Obetsebi Lamptey confirmed the death to Joy News’ Francis Abban, Sunday morning.

Mr Lamptey, born on February 4, 1946, was an astute Advertiser and had a rich political history. His father, Mr Obetsebi Lamptey was a member of the big six who delivered Ghana from the shackles and evil claws of colonialism.
Below is a copy of the full statement from the NDC.
