Bawumia Must Declare His Stance On homosexuality – NDC

Muslims in Ghana have been urged to demand that Vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia makes his stance on homosexuality clear especially when he professes to be a devout Muslim.

According to National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team member in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Alex Kwaku Asafo Agyei, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia must state his stance on the raging debate on homosexuality to Ghanaians.

The outspoken communicator stated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in opposition with Dr. Bawumia told Ghanaians to vote for NPP so as Vice president he can take Quran to the Flagstaff House.

“NPP in Dr. Buwumia’s own words told Muslims to vote for him in order to take Quran to the Flagstaff House. We know Quran frowns on homosexuality so the Vice president should speak if he supports legalization of homosexuality or otherwise”, Mr. Alex Kwaku Asafo Agyei admonished Muslims in Ghana.

“I think every good Muslim should compel him to state if he supports what President Akufo-Addo has said or not”, Mr. Asafo Agyei stated on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM’s morning show ‘Kroyinunsem’ hosted by Kofi Asante Ennin Monday.

Barely 48-hours after the entire interview of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was aired on Aljazeera dubbed “talked to Aljazeera” hosted by Jane Dutton, he has come under pressure over comments to the effect that the current law on homosexuality in Ghana is bound to change.

The President’s comments appear not to have sat well with some anti-homosexual campaigners who insist that the country’s religious and social cultural beliefs frown on such practices.

The President while being interviewed gave an indication the country’s position on homosexuality could change if there is a strong advocacy.

But persons who are opposed to this are still in doubt if indeed the comments attributed to the President are true.
